Jeremy Dudman
Audio Professional / Bassist / Educator
Jeremy Dudman is an audio professional, bassist, and educator in Atlanta, Georgia. Jeremy specializes in studio recording, mixing, mastering, sound editing, and post-production mixing. Jeremy plays double bass and electric bass and has performed live concerts and studio sessions with various ensembles for over fifteen years. He is dedicated to educating others from the knowledge he has gained through his experiences.
Currently, Jeremy co-hosts, records, produces, and mixes a weekly music commentary podcast, The Album Argument. He also freelances as an audio engineer, sound designer, and mixer (see Projects page). Between 2011-2017, Jeremy worked out of Lucky Run Studio in Houston, Texas as a recording, mixing, and mastering engineer. While specializing in rock and pop genres, Jeremy worked with artists in many styles of music such as zydeco, classical, country, and hip hop. In addition, Jeremy worked as a live A/V operator/engineer for entertainment, corporate, and special events in the Houston area.
Jeremy currently plays double bass in Tara Winds. He was Principal Double Bassist of the Alpharetta Symphony Orchestra 2018-2021 and has performed in the double bass section with the Houston Civic Symphony (2011-2017) and Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra (2007-2008). In addition, Jeremy has played electric and double bass with the band, Mystery Loves Company, in and around the Houston area.
As educator, Jeremy has over twelve years of experience teaching at the collegiate level (Art Institute of Atlanta: 2018-2023, Art Institute of Houston: 2011-2017). Classes taught include topics covering audio technology, studio production, digital audio, mixing, mastering, music theory, and portfolio preparation.
Originally from Duluth, Georgia, Jeremy found a love for music when he started playing double bass at the age of 11. Jeremy established a strong foundation in music graduating from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music (Commercial Music emphasis). During his four years at FSU, Jeremy worked as a live sound engineer for nationally touring bands and comedians at Club Downunder/Union Productions. He interned at Alex the Great Recording (Nashville, TN) while completing a Master of Fine Arts in Recording Arts and Technologies at Middle Tennessee State University.
While completing his studies at MTSU, Jeremy gained experience teaching and assisting faculty for undergraduate and graduate audio courses. For his MFA Final Thesis Project (“The Process of Recording and Producing Music While Envisioning the Final Product in 5.1 Surround Sound"), Jeremy explored techniques in recording music specifically for the surround sound medium. As part of his MFA Final Thesis Project, he submitted a 5.1 mix of Tim Lake's "Visceral Vernacular” and won first place in the Surround Non-Classical category at the 2010 AES Convention Student Recording Competition (thanks to API). Jeremy won second place at the 2010 Central Region Audio Student Summit Mixing Competition at Webster University.
Jeremy is a member of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) and a voting member of The Recording Academy. He is currently Chair and former Vice Chair (2021-2022) and Secretary (2019-2020) of AES Atlanta.
